Charity Shop Challenge During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, when our charity shops were closed, we saw a dramatic downturn in income. The second lockdown in November has had a similar impact, but we're glad to say that the shops have re-opened once again. How to run your charity shop challenge Set a spending limit per gift, say £3 Decide who’s in the challenge. Find the perfect gift for each person in the challenge. Share your gift. Over the festive season, what better way is there to show further support for Katharine House by getting back to basics and enjoying a charity shop challenge with family and friends. Helen and her family do a Charity Shop Challenge every Christmas “It’s genuinely turned in to a real Christmas highlight! The four of us scour the charity shops in the weeks before Christmas, seeking out the perfect presents. The kids love the chance to spend £3 on whatever they think we’ll like – it’s often hilarious, sometimes inspired and always something to cherish for the thought that’s gone into the giving. It’s been great to help us to think about others, to think about each other, to cut down on the materialism of Christmas and do it all a bit more sustainably. This year, we’ve got more members of the family joining in the Challenge. We won’t all be together this year, but it’ll be a fun thing to share when we catch up online together.” Don’t forget to share and tag your Christmas charity shop purchases with us #CharityShopChallenge #KatharineHouse. We always love to see a good charity shop purchase!
