Ever wanted to scale Everest, check out Ben Nevis or tick the Three Peak Challenge off your bucket list? Well now is the time, and we're here to help you to #DefeatThePeaks.

How can I get involved?

  • Stride out during June: whether this is up and down your favourite local hills, your garden, or your staircase. Tally up your daily steps to discover which summits you've conquered.
  • Decide how far you would like to walk: do you want to challenge yourself to climb the equivalent of 'Ben Nevis' (22,000 steps)? How about an even greater challenge and walk up and down 'Mount Everest' (136,000 steps)?
  • Choose how many days you'll do this in: whether you want to fit this in to a 24-hour challenge, across a weekend or over the space of three weeks, this challenge will suit you if you have been furloughed, are home schooling or continuing to work.
  • Create your JustGiving page: and get promoting all your efforts to your family and friends.

Check your shoelaces are tied, grab a bottle of water and set off on foot to #DefeatThePeaks. Walk, jog, run - however you do it, you will be making a huge difference to families in our local communities seeking specialist support in difficult times. Thank you!

Top tips

  • Link your step count device to Strava, and you will be able to record the distance you are travelling straight on to your fundraising page!
  • Make sure you include a personal photo on your fundraising page. Make them laugh, make them smile, and let them know who they are cheering for.
  • We urge you to be responsible about your choice of walk while lockdown restrictions are in place - local is good! If you want to walk in popular areas, check the website for parking information and busy times before you go.
  • In light of the current situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we ask anyone planning to take part in this event to follow current government guidance on staying alert and safe.
