Welcome to The Beeches Light Railway. We are very privileged to have been offered a chance to hold an ‘invitation only’ and exclusive event in Steeple Aston. The Beeches is a private garden and railway and is not open to the public. Bring a picnic and enjoy rides on a steam train in a beautiful garden setting. Light refreshments and unlimited rides are included in the cost of your entry.

The line contains one station, Rinkingpong Road, at an elevation of 351 feet (107m) above sea level. The nearly 1 mile (1.6km) railway track has a gauge of 2 ft and was built between 2002 and 2004. It resembles a figure of eight, with a loop around the back garden and another around the front, where it crosses the main drive.

Ringkingpong Station, an Indian-style railway station and sheds are behind the house. These follow an Indian theme from a fare evasion sign citing Indian Rupees, to the station's name, the Rinkingpong Road and some of the decoration used inside the building.

Although the railway is private and not subject to rail regulations, it is run professionally by the owner and some volunteers with railway rulebooks and regulations, and the steam engine has to be certified each year.

The railway's primary motive power is a Class B steam locomotive 778 built by Sharp Stewart in 1888, works number 3518. Locomotive 778 was built for India's Darjeeling Himalayan Railway where it ran until the early 1960s, when it was sold to Elliot Donnelley, a railway enthusiast in the US. After Donnelley died in 1975 the locomotive passed to the Hesston Steam Museum where it stayed until it was bought by the current owner and restored to working order.
