At Katharine House we care for nearly 800 patients a year, as well as supporting their families and carers too. We believe that every individual’s journey matters, and if you are diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, we’ll help you to live fully with your illness. We’ll care for you sensitively through death, and we’ll help your family, friends and carers to continue with life after loss. Here are just a few examples of the difference we’ve made to families in our community over the last 12 months:
“Thank you seems so inadequate after all you have done. From the moment she arrived she felt secure and what a privilege to spend her final time there. The gardens, care and kindness were what she needed. We all felt comfortable being at the hospice and your care extended to us all”
“The last 2 days of his life and when his death was approaching fast we were moved into a private room, including amazing views and room for the whole family. We had privacy but never felt alone day or night.”
“Katharine House Hospice made the most unbearable thing to happen in our lives a peaceful, sometimes happy, but above all, bearable experience. I cannot fault any of the care and support that my beautiful wife received. We are forever grateful for your kindness.”
“Our family will never forget what the hospice did for our dad and how you ‘gave him back to us’ for the end of his life. We had lost him the 2 weeks before his admission and we were at the point of feeling lost and as if we were failing him at home. You took that physical burden and you gave us the strength to face the end as a family. You gave back a proud man with integrity, his dignity that had been cruelly stolen by his disease. You gave our family hope, friendship and a feeling of never ending gratitude and some memories we may never have had without you.”
I would like to say thank you to everybody who cared for me during the week. It was very enjoyable and gave both me and my wife a break”
