Do you have a counselling qualification? Are you an experienced practitioner? Could you spare a few hours a week to support and develop  our counselling service?

We want to expand our existing service provision to support patients who have had a recent diagnosis of a life limiting condition, as well as continue to provide bereavement support to those who have recently suffered a loss. You will develop and review appropriate policies and procedures, including our referral, cancellation, assessment and administrative procedures. You will support the recruitment, induction and training of volunteer counsellors and liaise with local training providers regarding trainee counselling placements. You will assist with the initial screening and subsequent mentoring of trainee counsellors on placements.

Skills and Personal Qualities

  • Requires an experienced practitioner (BACP, UKCP or BPC accredited)
  • Experience of Integrative Counselling, management and working in an organisational setting, along with a willingness to embrace and develop a range of counselling models.
  • Experience and practice in mentoring trainees and counsellor supervision is also integral to the role.
  • Excellent communication skills and understanding of confidentiality
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism
  • Enjoys working with people, is approachable and able to work in a team
  • Has a sensitive, caring and friendly attitude towards all patients, staff and volunteers
  • Committed to our values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence
  • Attends training sessions and support meetings as appropriate
  • Adhere to Katharine House volunteer guidelines

This role requires an enhanced DBS clearance.
