Katharine House Hospice is calling all Home Heroes to join the 2.6 Challenge and raise funds to support our work.

This year, thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled across the UK due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). With many Katharine House events cancelled the hospice is now losing over £2,200 of voluntary income every day during the crisis.

On Sunday 26 April 2020 Katharine House will be joining 100’s of UK’s charities to take part in The 2.6 Challenge to help raise urgent funds, and we are challenging our community Home Heroes to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26, and fundraise or donate through Just Giving to help support Katharine House. Katharine House Community and Events Manager, Cherida Plumb said:

“The 2.6 Challenge is an easy way to help support Katharine House during the lockdown. Activities can be as simple as spending 26 minutes walking round the garden, walking or running 2.6 miles or 2.6 kms, doing 26 press-ups, or even pledging to make 26 friends cakes once the lockdown is over. It’s also a great way to keep in touch with work colleagues, by bringing 26 together on a video chat for a cuppa and donating £2.60 each. Whatever the activity, the task is to create donations of £2.60 or £26 – whatever is affordable.”

The 2.6 Challenge will last for a week and is open to anyone of any age. The only requirement is that the activity must follow the Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing and stay local.

Ms Plumb added: “This is a great time to join thousands of people across the UK and get creative, pledge to do anything you like and raise or donate funds online for Katharine House Hospice.”
