Please note: Coronavirus in China

Katharine House Hospice and the Different Travel Company are monitoring the advice of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) who provide recommendations and advice to British travellers about travel to a certain destination.

We are hopeful that the outbreak of the Coronavirus will have long been contained and travel restrictions to China lifted before this trek. If this is not the case and the FCO advice states that travel to Beijing or the Great Wall is a risk we will consider the various options available at the time, such as changing the location of the trek, postponing it, or cancelling it altogether. Our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of our trek participants.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us or the Different Travel Company or visit the Foreign Office website where you can follow the updates on the situation as it unfolds, or the World Health Organisation website. We will keep our teams informed if the situation worsens or if your trip will be affected.

Spanning over 5,000 miles, and visible from space, the Great Wall is the world's longest wall and a monumental feat of ancient architecture.

In 2021, you can join Team Katharine House and The Different Travel Company on the adventure of a lifetime, trekking from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai. Not only will you trek on the wall itself, you will also have the opportunity to adventure through wild and remote landscapes with distant views of green rolling hills, and mountain peaks, with one of the great wonders of the world as the backdrop.

Staying in guesthouses throughout the trek, you'll experience authentic Chinese culture first-hand. You’ll discover more about the lifestyle of the local people, their history, and also get to taste some incredible local cuisine.

This challenging and fascinating trek will take you on an adventure like no other.
