We would be delighted if you could join us for our ever-popular Lights of Love remembrance event on Thursday 7 December 2023.

For many of our community, this is an important moment in the year; a chance to come together with others and remember those we have lost. Following excellent feedback from last year’s event, we will follow a similar programme featuring special music, poems and reflections from members of staff at the hospice, and our Chaplain, Jo, will be leading a reflection.

This event is open to those of all faiths and none.

Where and when

The event will start at 7pm at Banbury Cross, for the traditional switching on of the Christmas Tree lights, followed by the main event at 7.15pm at St Mary’s Church, Horsefair, Banbury. We expect the event to finish at around 8.30pm.

Dedication to your loved one(s) at the event

This year we will again include a list of names of those we remember, which will be shown on a screen during the event.

If you would like the name of a loved one to be included on the screen, please add the name(s) when reserving your seat(s). We will need to receive the name(s) no later than Thursday 30 November.

NEW FOR 2023

Dedication to your loved ones on a star at the hospice

During the festive season, we will be displaying gold stars in memory of loved ones in our chapel and public areas of the hospice.

If you would like to remember your loved one(s) on a star, then please also add their names, together with a brief message (if you wish), to the form below when you book your place and we will write this for you.

Alternatively, if you have received a star in the post, you can send this back to us in the reply envelope or pop it into the collection box at the Lights of Love event. We will also have additional stars at the event.

Care at Katharine House

We are also using this event to raise money for the work we do at the hospice each day. We are meeting more and more people who need our support and the specialist, compassionate care we provide at Katharine House is only possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of our community. We appreciate that during these difficult times, not everyone will be able to donate but if you can, then we really will appreciate it.

We hope you will be able to attend, and that we may come together to remember and celebrate the lives of those we have loved who are no longer with us this year.

Thank you

We would like to say thank you to Humphris Funerals for sponsoring this year's Lights of Love at St Mary's.
