We have an opportunity to join our friendly team for a one year Specialty Doctor locum. Applications are invited to start in September 2019.

The proposed job plan is for up to 5 programmed activities per week (ideally to include Thursdays and Fridays) plus an equal share in the on call rota, which attracts an additional 0.5 PA.

The medical team consists of two Consultants, an Associate Specialist, a Specialty Doctor, a Palliative Medicine Specialty Trainee and a trainee on rotation from the North Oxfordshire GP training scheme. Both training schemes have rated rotational posts at Katharine House very highly.

The post-holder will be principally based on the 10-bedded inpatient unit but may also be required to provide some cover to the community service, with support. Previous experience working in palliative medicine is desirable, but not essential for a candidate with sufficient general medical experience and this would also be an excellent opportunity for someone from a general practice background to expand their palliative care skills. Pay will be pro-rata on the Speciality Doctor salary scale. We would consider appointing at Associate Specialist grading for a candidate already working at this level.

For a discussion about the role or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Dr Charlie Bond or Dr Beth MacGregor, Consultants at Katharine House Hospice, telephone: 01295 811866.

Please note that an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check will be required for this position.

Closing date for applications: July 5th 2019
