Our inpatient unit (IPU) is the heart of our hospice

Our nurses and doctors provide free specialist, personalised care to our patients around the clock.

But they are so much more than that. They are the friendly, smiling face every morning, afternoon and evening. The ones who adjust the pillows, bring the ice chips to soothe a sore throat, the ones who are there to explain, calm and reassure and listen to people’s wishes, stories and needs when their time is so precious.

They are the ones who are there every step of the way to make sure that every moment matters for patients and their loved ones.

Our inpatient unit makes a world of difference to patients every single day. It is a safe place that is so much more than a hospital, so much more than a medical centre; it is a place that makes every moment matter.

It costs £8,308 to care for one patient on our IPU for one month, and on average, we care for 17 people every month.

Could you help a patient receive dedicated care from our specialist doctors and nurses for a month? By donating today, you can help raise the vital funds that will ensure Katharine House continues to be the place that makes every moment matter.

Every penny counts so please donate whatever you can afford, so we can continue to help provide this vital free personalised care to those who need it in our community.

Please donate now and help make every moment matter

  • £17 could help a patient receive the spiritual support they need from our chaplain.
  • £52 could help a patient receive support from our social worker on the inpatient unit.
  • £65 could help a patient receive specialist support from our physiotherapist. This support includes managing symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, pain, and improving confidence and independence.
  • £1000 would pay for a syringe driver, which delivers medicine when a patient can’t swallow.
