In April 2019 we will be starting a health walk leaving from the hospice each Friday morning.  We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join this new team as walk leaders and/or to help behind the scenes.  The walks will be up to 1 hour long and open to carers, clients in our bereavement service and others from the hospice community.

Walk Leaders

Walk Leaders work in pairs to make sure that a walk is safe, welcoming and friendly.  You'll check that everyone is registered before setting off, lead the way or act as a back marker and deal with anything unexpected that happens during the walk.  You can enjoy a cuppa at the hospice after the walk and a chance to chat with participants and report any concerns to our staff team. You'll need to have a reasonable level of fitness, be able to work independently and be happy to get along with a wide range of people.  You can find out more by downloading the role profile.

Closing date: Friday 18 January 2019

Informal interviews to be held on: Friday 25 January 2019

One day Walking for Health training: Friday 15 February 2019

Volunteer Health Walks Administrator

The Health Walks Administrator will help make sure the scheme runs smoothly and that there is appropriate Walk Leader cover for each walk.  You'll need to be IT literate and happy to turn your hand to a range of admin tasks.  You might also act as a Walk Leader from time to time.  For further information please see the role profile.
