  1. About us

History

Our Hospice is named after Katharine, an incredibly brave girl who passed away from cancer at just 20 years old.

Her father, Neil, and a group of friends set out on a five year journey to raise enough funds to build a place that would care for people during their toughest times.

Through his own experience Neil realised that our area needed provision for people facing life-limiting illnesses, as well as their friends and family, and they knew the community needed more than just a hospice, more than just a safe and caring place where people came to die.

Neil and his friends set out to create an organisation where each person is cared for according to their needs. A place where people can be supported to live as well as they can until their last moments. A place where every individual's journey matters.

They built Katharine House Hospice.
