How we work with other professionals

The team at Katharine House Hospice are keen to work collaboratively in order to achieve the best care for patients and their families who are facing life limiting illness from any disease.

We have a designated catchment area of north Oxfordshire, south Northamptonshire and a small part of Warwickshire. We therefore support patients registered at the following surgeries:

  • Banbury Cross Health Centre
  • Bloxham Surgery
  • Bourne End Surgery, Hook Norton
  • Brackley Medical Centre
  • Byfield Medical Centre
  • Charlbury Medical Practice
  • Chipping Norton Health Centre
  • Cropredy Surgery
  • Deddington Health Centre
  • Hightown Surgery, Banbury
  • Horsefair Surgery, Banbury
  • Shenington Surgery
  • Sibford Surgery
  • Springfield Surgery, Brackley
  • Windrush Surgery, Banbury
  • Woodlands Health Centre, Banbury
  • Wychwood Surgery, Shipton Under Wychwood

We work closely with GPs, consultants, district nurses and other health care professionals in order to communicate effectively and arrange suitable and individual care for patients. We firmly believe in multi-disciplinary teamwork and therefore liaise closely with hospital colleagues and primary health care teams across our catchment area.

We offer community care, hospital care in the Horton General Hospital, Katharine House day hospice and inpatient unit, outpatient appointments, bereavement care and lymhoedema treatment, amongst a range of other specialist services, which allow patients to be cared for according to their need. We pay special attention to spiritual, social, emotional and physical care, including symptom control.

Education is a core component of our work. We therefore run a range of training courses throughout the year for internal and external professionals, in relation to palliative care and communication skills. We also offer placements of varying length for medical, nursing, and allied health professionals. You can find out more about our education programme here.
