Health & Safety Audit Volunteer

If you're a H&S professional with a little time to spare we need your help!  We're looking for someone with expert knowledge to help us take stock of our current H&S policies, procedures, risk assessments, governance and compliance and then help us to make an action plan.

This is a short term project which can be undertaken flexibly within office hours.

Maintenance Team

Are you skilled with a screwdriver or handy with a hammer? We need volunteers to join our maintenance team and undertake odd jobs around the hospice buildings. There are a whole range of jobs to be done - from putting up noticeboards in our offices and changing lightbulbs on the inpatient unit, to redecorating a changing room in one of our shops.

We're particularly looking for volunteers with experience of painting and decoration or electrical work but if you would like to help in any way please get in touch.

Times can be flexible within office hours.

Gardeners

We need some hardy volunteers to join our gardening team. If you enjoy working outside (in all weathers!) and as part of a team this could be the role for you. Volunteers help maintain our beautiful gardens and make the hospice a pleasant and tranquil place to be. You'll need to be willing to get stuck in and have a good level of physical fitness; we provide all the equipment you need including lots of cups of tea!

Every Thursday from 9am

Hospitality Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers to serve teas, coffees and cakes on our inpatient unit.  You'll need to be happy to handle a trolley and to stop for a chat with patients and visitors.  As part of our catering team you may also help serve up meals and make sure everything gets cleared up afterwards.  You'll need to be friendly and sensitive to the needs of patients and visitors and to enjoy working as part of a team.  For further details please download the role profile.

Daily, 10am - 2pm or 2.30 - 6.30pm

Flower Arrangers

We need people with a passion for flowers to join our team of volunteer flower arrangers. Working in pairs, volunteers produce floral arrangements for display around the hospice to help us provide a homely atmosphere for patients and families. If you have an eye for arranging flowers and would like to help us brighten up the hospice please let us know.

Mondays and Thursdays on a rota basis (approximately once a month)
