We are pleased to announce the arrival of our new Katharine House Hospice Charity Chief Executive, Trevor Johnson, who joined the charity on 10 May 2021.

Trevor was most recently Director of People and Income Generation at Havens Hospice, where he has spent the last ten years building their income generation, including substantially increasing their retail annual net profits. Prior to this, Trevor worked his way up through management roles within the retail sector, working for many national brands.

Trevor is currently Chair of the Hospice UK Retail Group and has led several national initiatives for Hospice UK. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and is married with one daughter.

Trevor was inspired to work in the hospice sector having experienced first-hand the amazing care that was provided when his mother and brother both died, six weeks apart. He said, "We simply wouldn't have got through things as a family without support from the local hospice. I didn't know much about hospice care before that, but I certainly had a new appreciation for it afterwards.”

Over the last six months, Katharine House has transitioned into a new partnership with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), which was completed on 1 April 2021. As a result, the management of all clinical services at the hospice have now transferred to the Trust.

However, Katharine House Hospice still remains a charity with an annual fundraising target of £3million to ensure that all clinical services can remain in place. The support we receive from the community can never be underestimated and it enables us to continue to meet the needs of the patients and families we care for every day.

Trevor continued: “To lead Katharine House into its next stage, and to know that so many people in the community will benefit from the work we do and the funds we raise, is such a privilege."
