Every day at Katharine House Hospice, our dedicated team strives to create a haven of solace for patients and their families during their most challenging times. 

It costs £12,995 per day to run all the services at Katharine House and as 2024 is a leap year, that means we have a whole extra day to fundraise for! Can you help us Pay for a Day? 

What will my donation pay for in a day? 

A day of compassion. Your donation will cover the cost of an entire day of hospice care, providing comfort, pain management, emotional support and a peaceful environment for our patients. 

The sum of £12,995 includes paying for: 

• the cost of our incredible nurses, occupational therapists, bereavement team, and support staff, like the catering and housekeeping teams
• all of the care that happens outside the hospice building out in our community, including our specialist nurses who support patients and their families in their own homes
• medical and personal care supplies
• the cost of our utility bills to run the building.

What impact will my gift have? 

• Patient-centred care: your donation ensures that our patients receive the highest quality of individualised care, tailored to their unique needs and preferences. 
• Family support services: by supporting a day, you're helping us provide bereavement services to families, guiding them through difficult moments. This includes our teams offering vital support to each patient’s family and loved ones while they are under our care. 
• Comfort in every detail: from soothing therapies to comforting surroundings, your contribution helps us maintain an environment where patients find peace and dignity. 

Which day can I pay for? 

Any day you like! It could be a date special to you, such as an anniversary or birthday of someone close to you who has died. You can also sponsor public holidays or dedicate your day in honour of a loved one, celebrating a special occasion, or simply as a gesture of support for those in need.

There is no limit on the number of days you can pay for. Consider organising your own fundraising event with friends and family, or at your place of work, school or club. Many people can take part in memory of a loved one. 

How will my gift be recognised?

• Personalised recognition: in gratitude for your contribution, we will feature your name or the name of a loved one on our dedicated Pay for a Day reception screen so everyone knows who is supporting the hospice that day. 
• Celebration Tree: we can offer you a leaf on our Celebration Tree for 12 months. The tree is displayed between reception and the inpatient ward. 
• A special thank you: one of our specialist palliative care doctors or nurses will send you a personalised thank you for your incredible support.  

How can I Pay for a Day? 

Your £12,995 could be through a one-off donation, or you could choose to spread your donation over a year – it is totally up to you.
